Who we are

Welcome to KOBE FISHING CONCERNS (KFC) a family run Kenyan based fly factory established in 2008.  A precise source of fishing flies at factory prices. We pride in being the most trusted leading manufacturer and supplier of premium quality fishing flies in Kenya for the categories of Dry flies, Nymphs & Wet flies, Streamers, Saltwater flies, Salmon flies and Bass.

Exquisite Kenyan fishing flies.

Kobe Fishing Concerns began in 2008 as a team of trained and passionate fly tiers, the group very easily and quickly became focused on what we are now best known for – exquisite Kenyan fishing flies. These are works of skillful hand tying by local Kenyan men and women who use the vise to craft the best fly patterns used world over by renowned outfitters, guides and fly fishers of all ages. The craftsmanship on them speaks for itself.

Currently Kobe Fishing Concerns is working with a large group of tiers to tie patterns that cut across different categories; Dry flies, Nymphs & Wet flies, Streamers, Foam Terrestrials, Saltwater flies, Salmon & Tube flies and Bass & Poppers. Our goal is to demonstrate that flies made in Africa can compete in the global marketplace, while at the same time creating meaningful employment for the tiers, in the hope that they will have an investment in, an opportunity to change their own future, and the future of their children. We have seen clearly where hope and opportunity exists in one part of the world it can impact peace and stability across the globe.

The company generates income for over 200 Kenyans directly or indirectly who otherwise might earn as little as $1,800 a year. Every end of year all our tiers including those indirectly contributing to the business collect together small hand crafted Kenyan items as a sign of cultural peace exchange and ship them to all our customers in the USA, UK, larger European region, South Africa, Germany, Australia, Denmark, Norway, Canada, Japan, China and Argentina. All materials used in our flies are GRADE AAA and are almost 100% sourced from these countries.

The following brands are incorporated in our fly tying: MUSTAD, VMC, DAIICHI, GRIPP, KUMHO HOOKS, KAMASAN, WHITING FARM, ZUCKER FEATHERS, EWING, HARELINE DUBBIN, UNI, VEEVUS, DANVILLE, WAPSI Etc. This is an assurance that the flies produced at our factory are all of very high quality and pass the test of selling in all world markets.

Why is Kobe Fishing Concerns NOT a non-profit?

The Kenyan tiers felt that setting up as a non profit would suggest donations are required or desired to sustain the fly tying operation. This was an assumption the tiers specifically wanted to challenge …..and they have. “We don’t want your donation; we want fly tying business which we will earn by ensuring every customer is satisfied with the flies purchased with their hard earned money”. While there are many who have tried to duplicate our model of business, tying and designs of our tiers, in terms of creativity, consistency and quality we are sure you will agree there is no comparison when you buy flies from Kobe Fishing Concerns!
